My Passion

My name is Yara Moreno.  I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and the founder of Moving Forward Counseling Services, LLC (MFCS).  I am passionate about helping individuals find hope and healing during the most difficult times of their lives.  These difficult experiences  can leave one feeling lost, depressed, anxious, fearful, and emotionally wounded. Feeling "stuck" with any of these emotions can be very overwhelming and life-altering.  However, I believe that no matter the circumstances there is always hope and the possibility of Moving Forward!

My Practice

My approach in therapy is client-centered thus making empathy and unconditional positive regard the main factors in the therapeutic process.  I understand that going to therapy is not an easy decision and it takes a lot of courage to ask for help.  Feeling heard and validated in a nonjudgmental place is imperative to healing.  This is why I strive to create a therapeutic environment where my clients can feel safe, physically and emotionally.

My Background

I have been working in this profession for over 10 years specializing in the field of trauma, specifically Sexual Abuse trauma.  I started my career working with youth in the foster care system that were impacted by the most horrific traumatic experiences.  Immediately, I developed a passion for Trauma-Focused therapy and I just knew I wanted to dedicate my career to helping victims of trauma for the rest of my life!  Along my professional journey, I have had the honor of managing wonderful community-based programs and supervising therapists dedicated in providing a variety of Trauma-Informed Services such as post-adoption counseling and case management, behavioral case management for individuals with Severe Mental Illnesses (SMI), counseling and case management for military families victims of domestic violence, and most recently, Crisis Intervention for victims of sexual assault.  It is this last one that inspired me to continue my work with victims of sexual abuse in private practice.

I have experience in providing a comprehensive set of services to individuals, couples, and families with a range of emotional and behavioral issues such as Anxiety, Adoption Related Issues, Attachment Disorders, Crisis Intervention, Conflict Resolution, Depression, Grief & Loss, Parenting, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Trauma.  I work with clients closely in order to achieve measurable results that allow them to push forward with a new, positive mindset. Please browse my services and get in touch if you’re interested in working with me.
